Voting information
for Cascade County
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5
MAIL BALLOT VOTERS For those registered to receive a mail ballot at your home, the ballots are being mailed on Friday, October 11. If you have not received your ballot by Friday, October 18, you should visit the Election Office immediately to fix the situation. If the election officials claim they have mailed your ballot, you might ask to have the first ballot invalidated and a NEW ballot issued on the spot. You can vote that ballot while you are in the Election Office and deposit your voted ballot in their drop box – that would save you the effort of mailing through USPS or of having to return to election drop box later. BALLOT DROP BOX LOCATIONS The ballot drop boxes located in the foyer of the County Annex Building at 325 2nd Avenue North and in the Election Office (at that same address) will be available starting Monday, October 14th. Those drop boxes will be available Monday-Fridays from 8:00am – 5:00pm. On Election Day only, you can also deposit your ballot in a drive-by drop box near the Agriculture Building at Expo Park from 7:00am – 8:00pm OR you can step inside Exhibition Hall and deposit your ballot in a drop box OR use the drop box in the foyer at the County Annex building. Ballots must be deposited by 8:00pm on Election Day. MAILING A VOTED BALLOT TO ENSURE TIMELY DELIVERY Remember, your ballot must be in the hands of the election officials ON NOVEMBER 5th. A postmark date is not considered receipt. To ensure your ballot arrives in time, mail your voted ballot via USPS by Wednesday, October 30. After October 30, voted ballots should be hand-delivered and deposited in one of the drop box locations. LATE REGISTRATIONSDon’t wait to register and vote. You can visit the Election Office and register to vote Mondays-Fridays from 8:00am – 5:00pm. Registration with proper identification to verify your voter eligibility will allow your vote to be counted on Election Day. You can mail a completed voter registration form to the Election Office (not recommended after October 4) or visit the Election Office to register to vote. Make a plan to do it today! If you register to vote in person at the Election Office after October 11, you can request a ballot be issued on the spot, vote it while in the election office and deposit it in the drop box. Voila! You can take care of voting in one visit. While Montana allows same-day voter registration, it’s not wise to wait until November 5th. Since this is a presidential election year cycle, the lines will be long and the wait may be more than you can handle. Make a plan to register earlier than November 5th. ELECTION OFFICE SERVICES & HOURS Voter registration can be done in the Election Office Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm through Friday, November 1st. On Monday, November 4th, you can register and request a ballot on the spot until NOON. Thereafter, plan on standing in line at Exhibition Hall on November 5th. The Election Office will be closed on November 5th, but the ballot drop box in the foyer at 325 2nd Avenue North (next to the library) will be available for ballot deposits until 8:00 pm on election day. POLLS ON NOVEMBER 5TH
All election operations will be moved to Exhibition Hall at Expo Park on November 5th from 7:00am until 8:00pm. There are also rural polling places, so visit the Cascade County election office website to know your polling location if you live in the rural areas of the county. Elections | Cascade County, MT If you traditionally vote at the polls, remember you must be in line by 8:00pm in order to vote or same-day register and vote.
